There are four ways through which a person can become a member
of Trinity:
Sacrament of Holy Baptism:
For children, young people and adults who have not been previously
baptized in the name of the Triune God. Young people and adults
are instructed in the Word of God and in the faith of the Lutheran
Church prior to receiving this sacrament; at the time of baptism,
they publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ and their allegiance
to his Church.
Confirmation
For young people who have previously been baptized in the name
of the Triune God and who, having been instructed in the Word
of God and in the faith of the Lutheran Church, publicly declare
their faith in Jesus Christ and their allegiance to his Church.
Transfer
For children, young people and adults who have been members of
other Lutheran congregations. (Note, the status of a person transferred
from one congregation to another does not change.)
Affirmation of Faith
For young people and adults who have previously been baptized
in the name of the Triune God, who have previously been members
of Christian congregations and who, having been instructed in
the Word of God and in the faith of the Lutheran Church, publicly
declare their faith in Jesus Christ and their allegiance to his
Church.
